Jennifer Hayes

Bio:

Jen loves her WSP job at the Mattole Restoration Council. Now in her second term with WSP, Jen has found a new home working to help restore the Mattole while living a delightfully romantic rugged and abundant life. Jen grew up in Cupertino, CA, went to Humboldt State, and graduated in 2005 with a B.S. in Natural Resources Planning and Interpretation. Moving to the Mattole has not only brought good work and a good life, but has also re-connected Jen with her family roots in Petrolia. Getting to know her family’s homesteading history in the Mattole has enriched her restoration work experience immensely. Jen is now a new board member of the Mattole Valley Historical Society.

Erin Hicks

Bio:

Erin is currently on this planet- she knows not why. . . she intends on making her stay as meaningful and positively impactful as possible. In her 27th year, she's discovering that she can be friends with life. She is inspired by her Backcountry season, her Backcountry family, the beauty of the natural world, dead presidents (Abraham Lincoln!), dead poets (Vachel Lindsay and Arthur Rimbaud), and life. Her passions are art and the environment. One day, she hopes to combine the two and provide a visual voice for the environmental cause. She is creative by nature, a little off-kilter (this may be an understatement), loves to laugh hysterically, gets extremely excited about Pulaskis and McCleods, and enjoys being surrounded by the wild and the beautiful. She is a native Californian (so-cal), but is infused with some East Coast and calls the mountains in the Emigrant Wilderness her true home.
