Sara Bangen

Bio:

I hail from southeastern Wisconsin but haven’t looked back much since heading out to Oregon in 2001. I attended the University of Oregon in Eugene where I earned a B.S. in Environmental Science and Geography. Oregon is where I fell in love with big trees, big mountains and unruly rivers. After 4 ½ years in Eugene I was lured, degree in hand, into the seductive world of seasonal fieldwork. I was fortunate to spend 2 field seasons working on a bull trout and steelhead habitat monitoring project in western Montana and the panhandle of Idaho. My time in between field seasons was spent traveling nationally and abroad. I quickly began to realize that while self gratifying, this lifestyle would quickly vanquish any true sense of responsibility let alone greater purpose. Hence, as a WSP Member, I will be spending the next year working at the Department of Fish & Game in the Coastal Conservation Planning Department diversifying my skill set and knowledge base. Yee-Haw!

Bio:

My name is Tara, and I am a desert rat from Arizona. After attending four different universities, I finally settled down and graduated from Northern Arizona University in environmental science. My field biology experience includes, traipsing around the desert in Utah looking for an elusive cactus, and working at the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge in NM where I did everything from measuring photosynthetic rates in creosote to counting rattle snakes in the middle of the night. My passion however, is conservation biology, and I hope to someday integrate that with graduate school and/or the Peace Corps. I currently work in the Yreka DFG, where most days I count cute little Chinook and Coho fry on the Scott or Shasta Rivers. When I am not counting fish, I am dancing. I lOVE SALSA and if I could dance all day, I totally would!
